Advocacy is about taking action to help people with sight loss say what they want, secure their rights, represent their interests and obtain the services they need. Advocates work in partnership with the people they support. Advocacy promotes social inclusion, equality and social justice.

The Association has a small team of trained and supervised volunteers who can help support visually impaired people with any need or difficulty they are experiencing.

The volunteers will talk to enquirers on the telephone in the first instance, liaise with other agencies and visit you if necessary in order to help and assist you wherever they can.

We provide a range of support and advice on issues
relating to sight loss.

We will endeavour to provide
advocacy support for individuals in a variety of areas
including benefits, housing, community care, transport etc.

We will also be happy to help people find appropriate
support from other organisations where we are unable to
be directly involved ourselves.

Advocacy support and advice are provided by working in
partnership with RNIB.

Available in larger print, braille and tape by contacting the
Sight Centre on 01872 261110.
