Cornwall Blind Association is a local independent charity providing services, support and advice to visually impaired people in Cornwall. It is long established i.e. 1856. Many of its services are based in Truro but it does provide support across the whole County and aims to provide services to people of all ages and backgrounds.
Linked to 25 social & leisure Clubs – which, help promote independence and avoid isolation
Volunteer transport and befriending – important in a rural area where transport is difficult and isolation is a real issue for many vulnerable people
Access Technology – help with computers & computer training which really can help promote independence
Low Vision Clinics and the skilled back – up of two members of staff carrying out follow-up visits to clients homes.
Counselling services – offering emotional support
Demonstration of equipment – that can be used in the home and promote independence.
Advice and support – about issues facing visually impaired people and the assistance of a team of trained advocacy volunteers.
Organisation of holidays – for visually impaired people so that they can have a much-needed break.
