Cornwall Blind Association - Improving the lives of visually impaired people

Fundraising

An estimated 12,000 people in Cornwall have moderate to severe sight loss in some form. This may be just the tip of the iceberg as, nationally, it is claimed that 90 per cent of people over 60 have some sight loss. In Cornwall - with a larger number of retirees, coupled with rural isolation and low incomes - this is a significant issue for the county.

There are all sorts of ways in which you can help us with our work, find out how to how to raise funds at home, within your community and at work, or simply donate on-line. It is easy to make a one-off donation, set up a direct debit or support us through your payroll. You could also leave a legacy.

You can help Cornwall Blind Association today. We rely on our fundraisers and volunteers to help raise the money that funds vital services for visually impaired people in Cornwall. Every pound you give helps us to secure the future of our services and continue to provide the highest possible levels of support. So please help in whatever way you can. Thank you.

How your money helps

We rely on your support to raise the funds needed each year to help blind and partially sighted people living in Cornwall to lead full and rewarding lives.  Here are some examples of how your money helps:

  • £5 helps pay for an equipment demonstration
  • £29 helps pay for telephone advice for one benefit claim
  • £68 provides one person with support for ordering, training and home set up of equipment needed
  • £87 supports one person to get their benefit entitlements including help with completing forms
  • £100 enables one person to take a cooking course
  • £123 pays for one visually impaired client to undertake a computer course for one year
  • £355 enables us to provide one person with 10 counselling sessions
  • £423 enables us to take one visually impaired child away on our annual children's holiday
  • £695 helps pay us to progress one benefits appeal case through court

We are very grateful to the many people who have supported our fundraising activities and it takes the energy, enthusiasm and generosity of thousands of people each year. With your support you can help Cornwall Blind Association make a real difference to the lives of visually impaired people in Cornwall.
