Cornwall Blind Association - Improving the lives of visually impaired people

Events and Challenges

Many people like to actively support us and each year people take part in, or organise, events to raise funds for Cornwall Blind Association. Fundraising can be a fun and active way to get involved with our charity.

To find the right type of event for you, or your organisation, please see the calendar below or click on the following links:

Or if you have an idea thats not listed, we can work together to put on a taliored programme or event for you and a eam of friends or colleagues. We can also offer a variety of dates so if you wish to take part in a fundraising event we can work to ensure that the timetable suits you.

If you would like more information on our events please contact Debbie Henshaw on 01872 266709 or email: dhenshaw@cornwallblind.org.uk

22/7/2010 - Live Life as Claire Glanville for the weekend! 22nd - 25th July Read more

Claire who has Usher Syndrome has thrown down the gauntlet and challenged her friends and family to face the weekend literally in her shoes! With the help of Cornwall Blind Association who have provided glasses that simulate the sight condition tunnel vision, friends and family have been challenged to survive the weekend wearing the simulated glasses. Claire has given them some everyday tasks to complete such as shopping for some specific items and to do the ironing! (The major symptoms of Usher syndrome are hearing loss and an eye disorder called retinitis pigmentosa, or RP. RP causes night-blindness and a loss of peripheral vision (side vision) through the progressive degeneration of the retina. The retina is a light-sensitive tissue at the back of the eye and is crucial for vision. As RP progresses, the field of vision narrows—a condition known as “tunnel vision”—until only central vision (the ability to see straight ahead) remains. Many people with Usher syndrome also have severe balance problems.) please sponsor claire and her friends on http://www.justgiving.com/Bethany-Julian
