Cornwall Blind Association - Improving the lives of visually impaired people

Fundraising

An estimated 15,000 people in Cornwall have moderate to severe sight loss in some form. This may be just the tip of the iceberg as, nationally, it is claimed that 90 per cent of people over 60 have some sight loss. In Cornwall - with a larger number of retirees, coupled with rural isolation and low incomes - this is a significant issue for the county.

There are all sorts of ways in which you can help us with our work, find out how to how to raise funds at home, within your community and at work, or simply donate on-line. It is easy to make a one-off donation, set up a direct debit or support us through your payroll. You could also leave a legacy.

You can help Cornwall Blind Association today. We rely on our fundraisers and volunteers to help raise the money that funds vital services for visually impaired people in Cornwall. Every pound you give helps us to secure the future of our services and continue to provide the highest possible levels of support. So please help in whatever way you can. Thank you.

How your money helps

We rely on your support to raise the funds needed each year to help blind and partially sighted people living in Cornwall to lead full and rewarding lives.  Here are some examples of how your money helps:

  • With a £1 donation, our advocacy volunteers can generate a staggering £125 in equipment for people with sight loss, ranging from a talking microwave to computer screen readers.
  • £5 invested in our benefits service generates £130 in benefits for people with sight loss enabling them to escape poverty.
  • £10 provides a person with the joy of reading via our audio books service.
  • £15 provides a person with friendly reassurance at their eye clinic with help and information about sight loss services and how the charity can support them from the point of diagnosis.
  • £30 enables a person or their family to come to terms with the devastation that sight loss may bring by providing a Counsellor can to talk through their issues.
  • £50 provides an older person with sight loss with a lifeline for 3 months to relieve their isolation by providing friendly, regular calls from a befriender.
  • £100 gives someone back their independence by enabling them to deal with their own benefits, banking, to cook or to undertake activities of their choice by electronic assistive technology.

We are very grateful to the many people who have supported our fundraising activities and it takes the energy, enthusiasm and generosity of thousands of people each year. With your support you can help Cornwall Blind Association make a real difference to the lives of visually impaired people in Cornwall.
