Cornwall Blind Association - Improving the lives of visually impaired people

Which Community Group do you belong to?

Clubs & Organisations

Clubs, social clubs, sports clubs, churches, women's guilds, lions, rotary, probus, and golf clubs... whatever your focus, we can provide you with a fundraising pack for organising smooth, successful events in aid of Cornwall Blind Association. You might stage coffee mornings, race nights, pub quizzes, sponsored walks, open garden or sporting events.

Could you name us as your Charity of the Year? Recycling, sponsorship, taking tables at events for entertaining guests or selling tickets for our Annual Draw (perhaps having a competition within your own club to see who can sell the most), if so we would love to hear from you.

We ask you to tell us about your fundraising event so that we can provide you with support to make it an even bigger success. Download our event notification form.

Schools & Colleges

Cornwall Blind Association is often contacted by schools and colleges. We hope the answers below to the FAQ's that we are often asked will help if you are a member of staff or a pupil in a local school.Your School can help Cornwall Blind Association in many ways, by getting involved in helping us to raise much-needed funds through simple events such as bring & buy sales, our Bright for Sight dress down days or a sponsored blind-fold and guided walk.

Can our school, year group or class, make Cornwall Blind Association our charity of the year?Yes, absolutely you can, but please get in touch and tell us what you are planning to do, especially if you want to use our official sponsor forms, our logo or any material from our website.

Can our school get involved in Cornwall Blind Associations recycling schemes?Yes, definitely, and right now especially our mobile phone recycling scheme. We can get money for your old phones, working or not. Imagine if you were able to get every family in your school to send in an old phone.......you can help us raise a lot of money, with very little effort.

Will the charity come and give a talk to our pupils/students?Yes we will, and regardless of whether or not you do fundraising for us. We can tailor them to suit any key stage, through to careers fairs for school and college leavers. Sometimes our talk includes a quiz.  We can support you by arranging for one of our staff and/or visually impaired clients to give a fun and uplifting presentation helping to teach pupils social responsibility at a young age. Arrange for a speaker to visit your school.

Older children may consider volunteering or getting work experience at one of our Sight Centre's. Our fundraising team can also help teach skills in organising and promoting an event - for example, staging a fashion show with clothes from the back of their parents wardrobe!

If you are a College or University student and don't have much money to spare, you can still provide support, including volunteering a small amount of their valuable time or taking part in on of our daredevil events such as the firewalk or parachute jump and can also help organise pub quizzes and other fundraisers on our behalf.

Kids Stuff

Children are among the very best fundraisers - not least because they may have experienced a family member or friend who has lost their sight and this gives them a way to feel they have done something to help.

Sponsored bike rides, sponsored silences, discos and fancy dress parties - just a few ideas of how kids can put the fun in fundraising.

Whether it be participating or organising an event, joining one of our fundraising groups or simply participating in one of our organised events your support is vital to us.
