
Cornwall Blind Association is celebrating from the news that they have secured £330,000 from the Big Lottery.
The charity's Chair, Terri Rosnau said:
"This is absolutely fantastic news for the association as this grant will go towards ensuring the development of quality services across Cornwall for all visually impaired people."
Cornwall Blind Association was initially set up more than 150 years ago for miners who lost their sight in mining accidents. Nowadays, Cornwall Blind Association is the only local charity to provide services to individuals with a range of sight conditions.
The charity is aiming towards county-wide provision and this vital piece of funding from the Big Lottery Reaching Communities Fund will support the work of the new outreach workers in Penwith, Caradon and North Cornwall.

"This is a tremendous achievement that acknowledges the commitment Cornwall Blind Association has made to local service delivery. The importance of all our services has been recognised and funding will ensure we can continue improving the lives of visually impaired people in Cornwall."
The charity provides Low Vision Clinics for those with limited sight, Access Technology to enable visually impaired people to access a range of media such as magazines and internet, counselling, talking support, benefits advice, subsidized transport and access to leisure activities.
