The first 'jam' session of the Blind Rock Group took place at Livewire in Saltash last Monday. The five new band members came together from around East Cornwall to play the drums, guitar and keyboard and 'sounded really great' according to Project Co-ordinator Alison Noble.

"We have some really talented musicians in this group" said Alison, "but most of all it was fantastic to see how much everyone enjoyed themselves".

The band members range in age from 17 to 63 and all have varying degrees of sight loss. The band is still looking for a bass guitarist and will welcome along any musician with a visual impairment who wants to have some fun.

"We also hope to record a CD and maybe perform in concert later in the year as part of our For Sight Appeal's ‘Be Bright for Sight' fundraising actvities," said Alison.

Cornwall Blind Association, the only local charity dedicated to improving the lives of visually impaired people in Cornwall, has just launched its For Sight Appeal so the charity can continue to provide its full range of services.

"If anyone would like to sponsor our group or order our CD in advance that would be fantastic" explained Alison.
