Cornwall Blind Association - Improving the lives of visually impaired people

Cornwall Blind Association dares people to bare their soles and walk across fire in aid of their For Sight Appeal

Cornwall Blind Association is using the ancient art of firewalking to raise funds for their For Sight Appeal on February 12, 2011 at the Pirates Rugby Club in Penzance.

By taking on the challenge of walking across hot coals, the funds raised from this breathtaking and daring opportunity will enable the Charity to continue giving life changing support to blind and visually impaired people across Cornwall.

The history of humanity and the discovery of the technology of fire are intimately connected and evidence suggests our ancestors mastered fire over 1.5 million years ago.

The oldest recorded firewalk took place in India over 3000 years ago and evidence of firewalking has been found on every continent except Antarctica.

Liz Ashley from the Cornwall Blind Association Fundraising Group is taking part and said: "Debbie to insert quote"

Paul Davies, who took part in a Firewalk for the Charity last year said: "Walking across burning hot coals sounds like a ludicrous thing to do but it was an amazingly fun experience of mind over matter, a great personal achievement and gave me a warm feeling that I'd helped a good cause"

Debbie Henshaw, Community Events Fundraiser said: "".
