Smiling Santas, gigantic snowmen and glittering Christmas trees brighten up many Cornish homes during the festive season. Some villages turn into a lightshow which wouldn’t look out of place in Las Vegas as homeowners compete to see who can show off the best festive display.
Now the Cornwall Blind Association is encouraging these bold festive homeowners to be fundraisers too. They are being asked to Be Bright for Sight and trip the light fantastic to raise money for the visually impaired in the county.
"Now is the time to Shine a Light for the Cornwall Blind Association," said Debbie Henshaw Community & Events Fundraiser. "If your family always go heavy on the outdoor decorations, why not open your home up to the public for donations for the Cornwall Blind Association.
"You could hold a Christmas event outside your home, sell mince pies or sing some carols to celebrate and help top improve the lives of the blind and visually impaired in Cornwall."
But if you do go in for the Las Vegas style light show remember to use LED and low voltage lights which will help to keep your family's fuel bills to a minimum. This way the light show only costs you a bit of time and effort.
