Ed Coode, Olympic Gold Medallist cut the ribbon and wished everyone good luck as they embarked on the 11 mile route to Devoran.
In the midst of the walkers, the Devoran Pre School team strode ahead with a strong purpose after having raised £1,700 between them. One of their pupils is three year old Scarlett who has Albinism.
Kathy Kemp, Pre School Leader and Tabi Fergus, Scarlett's Mum, said: "It was so easy and so wonderful to raise money for Cornwall Blind Association and to take part in Stride For Sight because it was so well organised.
"We walked, talked and cackled our way through the whole 11 miles and it was absolutely fantastic.
"We can't thank everyone in the community enough, from the Primary School who donated their hall for the walk to finish up at, to the Oggy Boys who sang at the Old Quay pub in Devoran and donated the money raised to our cause."
Rob Norman, singer, The Oggy Boys said: "This charity has really become a part of our community here at Devoran and we are absolutely delighted to be able to sing for everyone after their long walk. We must thank Skinners Brewery who donated the beer we are selling today to raise even more funds for the Charity."
Terri Rosnau, Director of Cornwall Blind Association said: "This event has been absolutely fantastic. The amount raised is outstanding and I am so proud of everyone involved.
"Not only has this event raised much needed funds for the Charity, but it has also reached out into the Cornish community to raise awareness of what we do, how we help people, and how we can help more people. I wholeheartedly thank everyone involved."
Jackie Southon, Fundraising Manager said: "I would like to thank every single person involved in making Stride For Sight such a great success. From the walkers and their sponsors to all the volunteers and Cornwall Blind Association's staff team who helped organise the day we really wouldn't have been able to do it without you! Our next walk will be over the Goss Moor on the 24th March 2012 please conatct Debbie and Clare to register on 01872 266709"
