Trelissick Gardens set tails wagging for the Cornwall Blind Association

It’s ‘paws for thought’ at the beautiful gardens of Trelissick near Truro on 17 July, 2010 as the stunning estate opens their 300 acres of parklands for dogs – and their owners, from all over the County to come and take part in the Dog Show in aid of the Cornwall Blind Association’s Be Bright for Sight campaign.

Starting at 1pm, the show has many varied and hilarious competitions to ensure that dogs in all shapes and sizes can take part and parade in style.

From 1pm, for dog lovers all over the county there will be displays in the parkland with the Turnaware Bears and the Cornish Sheepdog Association.

At 3pm the dog showdown begins! Categories including Waggiest Tail, Most Handsome Dog, Prettiest Bitch, Cutest Puppy, Dog most like its owner, Best Veteran, Fancy Dress, Shiniest Coat, Best ball catcher and a final all round rosette.

Jackie Southon, Fundraising Manager at the Cornwall Blind Association said: “It’s events like these that really capture the hearts and minds of the Cornish people.

“We are inviting Cornwall and it’s dog to come and show us their canine capabilities at the Trelissick Dog Show – it’s going to be a fun filled day – all in aid of our Be Bright for Sight campaign.”

George Elworthy, Trelissick Manager of Estates said: “We are looking forward to this new show at Trelissick which is a great example of two charities working together towards common objectives”.

There will be stalls and information from the Cornwall Blind Association and also the St Austell Bay Dog Training Club offering advice on dog training.

Registration for the show starts at 1pm and costs just £1 per pet. The events are judged by Cornwall’s own Bishop Tim.

Visitors can also enjoy walks with their dogs over the 300 acres of parkland at Trelissick through the woodland walks and footpaths over the estate.

The Cornwall Blind Association is a charity dedicated to helping blind and visually impaired people across the County. The money raised will go towards the For Sight Appeal which aims to raise £500,000.00 of voluntary funds each year until 2014. This will enable the Cornwall Blind Association to continue delivering and expanding their services towards helping blind and visually impaired people.

Parking for the event is £3.50, free for National Trust members.
