Cornwall Blind Association - Improving the lives of visually impaired people

Incapacity Benefit

From April 2011, Incapacity Benefit is being transferred to Employment and Support Allowance (ESA).

This will affect all people in receipt of Incapacity Benefit, Severe Disablement Allowance and Income Support because they are unable to work.

The Government has also announced that the contributory ESA will be limited to twelve months payment for people in the 'work related activity group'. These are the people assessed to be able to return to work with the help and support provided by the department.

Watch out for the work capability assessment form, ESA50 as this may be the beginning.

Ruth Broad's role is to make sure that everyone understands the changes that are happening within the benefits system and she is available for advice and support. Just call 01872 266711 or email rbroad@cornwallblind.org.uk.
