Opportunities
Training is
provided and volunteers are required to be recruited through existing CBA
procedures which involve references being taken and prospective volunteers
having a CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) disclosure undertaken.
Driving
– Escort drivers urgently required to drive visually impaired clients to
medically associated appointments and to the various clubs for visually
impaired people. We would like to encourage drivers to offer their services on
a ‘flexible’ basis if they are not able to make a regular
commitment on a weekly / monthly basis. Drivers ideally located in, or within 5
miles radius of:

arisen for a club organiser to run the
social get togethers for visually impaired people at Chy Nampara,
We are also
seeking a person to help at the CABS (Cornwall Association Blind Shooting)
Club. The club meets every Wednesday afternoon between
Active Blind
Leisure (A.B.L.e) need a
helper to assist the Club Organiser with a variety of
duties on a regular basis. The club meet twice a month on Monday’s at Shortlanesend Village Hall from

Volunteers
are required to visit visually impaired people in their homes once a fortnight
or once every three weeks. Ideally, living within a short distance from where
the client lives.
Redruth – We have a client that needs a volunteer
to read and sort out junk mail, make phone calls and help with queries as
directed by the client.
St Agnes
– A gentleman who has recently lost his sight and afraid to venture on to
the road because of the traffic would like someone to go out for a short walk
with him from time to time.
Camborne – A client who urgently needs someone to
help with clerical needs i.e. filing and correspondence.

Opportunities
Assisting
General Manager with compiling and dispatching media releases – one or
more volunteers required to work on a flexible basis either based from home or
at the Sight Centre to assist the Association build
up and develop their relationship with the media and compile, send out and
chase up regular media releases.
