Cornwall Blind Association - Improving the lives of visually impaired people

Volunteering

We have many volunteers who have kindly given their time to help us in a variety of activities and we are very grateful for their contribution, without them we would not be able to help as many blind and visually impaired people as we do.

If you would like to be part of our volunteering team and have the chance to meet new friends, recognise and develop new skills, have fun, whilst having the satisfaction that you are making a real difference in your community, then volunteering for Cornwall Blind Association could be for you.

In this section you can find out about volunteering opportunities, get the answers to any questions you may have and hear from Jenny, one of our current volunteers.

Volunteer Jenny Cook

Volunteer, Jenny Cook, from Hayle is keen to encourage others to join her by helping visually impaired people in Cornwall.

"I work with a lovely group of people, they make me laugh and get me out of myself," she explains.

Jenny has helped out in a variety of ways, with a cooking club, organising rambling, on the reception desk at Truro Sight Centre and with the Visually Impaired Person's Club in Hayle.

"I'm trying to give something back to the community. I've made some lovely friends and it puts all my aches and moans into perspective".

Heather Collings, who co-ordinates all the services at Penwith Sight Centre, in Penzance, said:

"Without the help of people like Jenny we could not deliver all our services to those with sight loss in the community."

"We are so grateful to all our volunteers as they help with providing transport, running clubs and without their contribution we would not be able to help improve the lives of visually impaired people in Cornwall."
